Privilege
Privilege for some people is a lifestyle, while for others it is a lifeline.
And the more I observe life, the more this truth hits differently. Some people step into rooms with the ease of those who have always had doors open for them; others step in with the weight of those who prayed the night before that the door would not slam shut in their faces.
For some, privilege is the air they breathe — unconscious, unexamined, uninterrupted. They do not even notice it because it has always been there, cushioning their risks, amplifying their efforts, and softening their failures.
But for others, that same privilege in even the smallest dose is the ray of light that keeps hope alive. It is that one opportunity that can shift an entire family line. It is the favour that breaks generational ceilings. It is the lifeline they hold on to while navigating a world that has not always been kind to them.
This is why empathy matters. This is why humility is non-negotiable. This is why gratitude should never be seasonal. Because while some are cruising on privilege without knowing, others are surviving on it with everything in them.
As a finished son, I’ve learnt that the true measure of a man is not in how loudly he enjoys his advantage, but in how intentionally he uses it to lift others who were not handed the same start.
Privilege is not a sin but being blind to it is. Use it wisely. Steward it well. And when grace finds you, don’t hoard it… extend it.
I will see you when I see you.
Love and Light,
The Ife Bayonle.

Privilege is indeed one of the many things people don’t account for in their story.. we often overlook it.. and one of the dangers is that it could undermine the efforts of others who puts in as much or even more
Thank you for writing on this
This is a profound message and I love and appreciate it.
